Top Things to do in Weston-super-Mare this Spring

The daffodils are sprouting, the days getting longer, and everyone seems to have a bounce in their step. This can only mean one thing: Spring is nearly here! As we get ready to wave goodbye to winter its time to get out and about. With that in mind here are some great things for you and the family to enjoy in the town that never stops giving - Weston Super Mare.

Grand Pier Fireworks: Saturday 10th Feb.

Cap off a great family day out by walking along our famous Grand Pier and enjoying this spectacular display starting at 6:30pm. Watching from the pier is ticket only so be quick and get yours from the pier’s gift shop or online through their website. Standard tickets are £7.50 or £12.50 for Gold tickets which include a hot food selection and traditional fish and chips available at the Boardwalk Cafe situated at the Pavilion entrance.

Valentine's Date Night at the Zoo: Wednesday 14th Feb

Tired of the same Valentine's day dates? Looking to spice up the yearly routine? Fancy spending it with Rhinos? OK, the latter question may not have crossed your mind, however, that means, in all likelihood, it hasn't crossed the mind of your significant other and makes for a uniquely surprising Valentine's day treat. The evening runs from 5:30pm to 8:30pm and includes a two-course meal.

The Weston Super Half: Sunday 18th March

The Grand Pier has teamed up with double Olympic gold medallist James Cracknell OBE for a special half marathon. This community-based event starts at 9:30am just outside the Grand Piers entrance (Marine Parade) and allows runners to take in Weston-super-Mare’s greatest sights before finishing in the grandeur of the Grand Pier’s end.

Weston Sand Sculpture Festival: From 30th March

Weston Super Mare is well known for its stunning beaches. You don't need an excuse to visit them, but why not make a day of it and visit our iconic pier after taking in the sandy artistry on show at the Sand Sculpture Festival? Now entering its 13th year, this is an event you won't want to miss out on.

Cycling and Country Walks: All Year Round

Finally, there is no better way, or place, to revel in the splendour of the emerging wild spring flowers and newly leaved trees than walking or cycling through our many parks and natural trust sites. Sand Point, Middle Hope and Brean Down offer you and your family stunning views everywhere you care to look. Brean Down has great views of Weston Bay and even the South Wales coast on a clear day, whilst majestic ponies graze on the Down, and Brean Down Fort is just a short distance away. West Mendip Way, Crook Peak, Ebbor Gorge and Uphill Nature Reserve are all fabulous places to take in the spring flora and fauna. Cycle along the many routes available including The Strawberry Line, a dedicated cycle route that allows you to take in some of North Somerset’s most eye-catching vistas.
